When will the VA (Veterans Affairs) wake up and make changes?
Questions I ask daily as I read story after story on line and in blogs by Vets who are in need and who are suffering every day living on the streets (131,000 vets on the streets of the USA) who need help today not weeks from now!
Veterans who spent time filling out paper work who are sick and who need answers on claims but have to wait months (average wait to get a letter from VA 6 months) to years to hear where they stand on the claims!
I just do not understand the delays and I do not understand the back log in claims. But a fake or non veteran can get money as we read in the news ever few weeks! How do fake veterans get help and money and live like a normal person but a true veteran with paper work and truly hurt or old war wounds and a DD214 can't get his or her claim even looked at?
It tells me there is something in the system of the VA that is a big big flaw?
I have seen veterans paper work - old orders - medical paper work from war zone on said wounds and how they got them - Doctors from the VA saying wounds on duty war related but still a delay! How do some get seen by Doctors and get a claim in a few months and others wait years?
I say the system must be who you know? Who looks at said claims - Who knows what he or she is doing at the VA and passes the claim on to the board for a vote on what he or she will get I guess? I have a lot of WHYS and a lot of why did he get 60% but the guy with the same wounds only get %40 disability?
Why does PTSD get 100% disability and a guy with loss of one leg and one hand gets 80%? So they are telling me to lie and say I have what I do not have and have it added to my claim and get more medical help and more disability?
I just do not understand in my talking to other vets on who gets what and why!
Most of them do not understand and some got what they go but only after refilling a claim over and over and some as many as 8 times one guy did and every time he got his award of disability he appealed till he got what he needed as he said!
Others are still on there first claim and some are on there fifth claim and more.
To me it's a system I do not get understand and from what I do know once the paper work is gone through it is sent on to a VA office to a board to review and deter men what is wrong with said vet and then the board votes on how much disability to give him or her!
I know some are doctors - I have been told others are medical personal - some on the board are just regular VA staff on a board!
No matter how it work or does not work in this case with one million claims back logged and that says one million veterans who do not know what they will get or not get and how many of the one million are no longer with us cause of the wait?
How many have died? How many took there own life? How many more have to die before Veterans Affairs wake up?
I know others have written about the VA but I feel if it's a repeat then so be it but I do hope a few who keep up with news on veterans affairs and our veterans will talk to others about our vets and there need of help both on the streets and who sit at home and wait! I hope Washington wakes up and reads and more readers also send letters and make phone calls or fax the Congress person and push for help and a speed up to end the problems with our Veterans who have waited months to years for word on there claim.
Readers no matter you feel towards war do give us all a hand in pushing congress and Washington and mostly Veterans Affairs a wake up and get our veterans the help they so badly need NOW:
